BP 79 - Make Social Media Inviting and Enjoyable Again (for Monday 2026-02-02)
Greetings...
This post is NOT my attempt to control anything anyone posts. That's not my place. I'd rather use this forum to encourage anyone who posts on social media to post only things that are GOOD, TRUE, and/or BEAUTIFUL. If what you're about to post is neither GOOD, TRUE, nor BEAUTIFUL, do us all a favor and keep it to yourself.
Speaking up for myself only (and whomever might like to join me in this), I'm not interested in anyone's partisan-driven political views. Most partisan-driven political posts that I encounter on social media often lean toward the extreme and, most likely, find their basis in half-truths, egregious polemics, flagrant exaggeration, and outright falsehood. Often, such posts label those who disagree with the one who posted it as being totally worthy of public shaming (or worse). That's really saddening to me.
In the past, I've posted political opinions. And I regret those that were partisan-driven. I regret that, in posting such things, I probably hurt and alienated myself and others. To those I hurt (and who are, perhaps, reading this now), I confess how deeply sorry I am for the hurt I caused you. If I could confess to each of you personally, I would. Anyway, a few years ago, I decided to never post or repost a purely partisan-driven political post again.
Regarding partisan-driven political posts... Have any of you ever been truly persuaded by such a post? Such that, as a result of that post, you changed your mind about a political issue or, perhaps, even your political beliefs or allegiances? I haven't. And you probably haven't either.
If you want to post partisan-driven political posts, be my guest. When I encounter such things, I'll (as I've been doing for some time now) just skip over it and not give it even a second thought. Frankly, it's worth neither a second of my time nor an ounce of my mental or emotional energies.
Provided below is the kind of content I really enjoy viewing [Note: This is not an all-inclusive list; it's just representative of the things I enjoy viewing or reading about]:
Biblical/Christ-following/inspirational quotes, thoughts, memes, and videos.
Anecdotal writings, sayings, and stories that could be helpful to me or others in navigating the challenges of life.
Personal stories that are NOT politically-driven.
Funny clips, shorts, and longer videos--especially of pets and other animals.
Musical clips, shorts, and videos.
Parody that's clean, humorous, light-hearted, and not degrading.
Links to interesting and informative blogs, podcasts, videos, etc.
Fitness and sports stuff.
Photographs and thoughts about one's family, friends, family gatherings, etc.
Personal announcements (like graduations, marriages, births, promotions, remembrances, etc.).
Art work (paintings, photography, etc.)--especially those that capture nature in some manner.
Outdoor interests.
Prepping subjects.
Personal protection subjects.
Scientific discoveries.
Nostalgic items (like, for instance, quirky things from, say, the 60s, 70s, and 80s).
Historical items.
Okay.. so there you go.
Take what I've written to heart or not. I'm hoping that most of you will opt for the former and work (like I am) to MAKE SOCIAL MEDIA INVITING AND ENJOYABLE AGAIN.
Peace to you, friends...
Daver
