BP 77 - The Fear of The Lord (for 2026-01-21)

 


On The Revellious podcast, I've been talking recently about the fear of God.  Provided below is a brief distillation of what I believe comprises the fear of God (aka the fear of The Lord).  Granted, what I've provided below is really just a snapshot in time of where I am currently regarding my fear of God.  Since the fear of God has infinite expressions, I'm sure that, ten years from now, my distillations of this important Faith-life arena will look a little different from how they look today.

For me…

 

To fear The Lord (that is, to Live in The Living- and Loving-dread of The Trinity), which is The Beginning (that is, The Firstfruit) of True Knowledge and Wisdom, is…

 

1/To wholly (that is, with singleness of heart-mind) seek The Trinity (that is, to wholly/wholeheartedly pursue Divine Intimacy with The Trinity), and to place Their Kingdom (and Kingdom-interests and -principles) far above and before any and all other relationships, kingdoms, organizations, interests, and principles.

 

2/To wholly Live in the surrendered awe of The Trinity… of Who They Are [Their Relational Character Traits, Their Prerogatives, Their Capacities, and, of course, Their Holiness, Humility, Loving-heartfulness, and Eternal Limitlessness], how They Live, what They’re About [what They Intend/desire/will], what They Do, and how They Do it.

 

3/To wholly honor (actively and completely) THE INCONTROVERTIBLE FACTS [see Representative Scripture Versus and Passages below]:  A/That I owe The Trinity My Very Life and Personhood; B/That I’m completely accountable to Them for the Gifts and time on Earth They’ve Given me; C/That my Life and Existence is completely contingent upon Them; and D/That I’m Known Thoroughly, Loved Through and Through, Forgiven and Cleansed Eternally, and Breathed and Uttered into Unending Existence by Them (and that I don’t ever want to hurt or lose that intimate closeness [this is probably my greatest fear]).

 

4/To wholly Love Rightwiseness (that is, to wholly/wholeheartedly Love what The Trinity Loves).

 

5/To wholly hate ALL evil (that is, to wholly/wholeheartedly hate what The Trinity hates).

 

6/To walk humbly (in and with The Trinity) in Their Ways (that is, in Their Logos-order, -lifestyle, and -mission).

 

And…

 

7/To hope Eternally and unquestionably in The Trinity’s Unfailing Covenant-love.

  "THE TRUTH IS… YES, I WAS ONCE A LITTLE CHILD. THE TRUTH IS, TOO, THAT I (VERY MYSTERIOUSLY) STILL AM."
