BP 77 - The Fear of The Lord

 


For me…

 

To fear The Lord (that is, to Live in The Living- and Loving-dread of The Trinity), which is The Beginning (that is, The Firstfruit) of True Knowledge and Wisdom, is…

 

1/To seek The Trinity (that is, to pursue Divine Intimacy with The Trinity) with singleness of heart-mind, and to put Their Kingdom above and before any and all other relationships, kingdoms, and/or organizations.

 

2/To Live in the surrendered awe of God (that is, of The Trinity)… of Who They Are [Their Relational Character Traits, Their Prerogatives, Their Capacities, and, of course, Their Holiness, Humility, Loving-heartfulness, and Eternal Limitlessness], how They Live, what They’re About [what They Intend/desire/will], what They Do, and how They Do it.

 

3/To honor (actively and completely) THE INCONTROVERTIBLE FACTS [see Representative Scripture Versus and Passages below]:  A/That I owe Them (that is, The Trinity) My Very Life and Personhood; B/That I’m completely accountable to Them for the Gifts and time on Earth They’ve Given me; C/That my Life and Existence is completely contingent upon Them; and D/That I’m Known Thoroughly, Loved Through and Through, Forgiven and Cleansed Eternally, and Breathed and Uttered into Unending Existence by Them (and that I don’t ever want to hurt or lose that intimate closeness [this is probably my greatest fear]).

 

4/To wholly Love Rightwiseness (that is, to Love what The Trinity Loves).

 

5/To wholly hate ALL evil (that is, to hate what The Trinity hates).

 

6/To walk humbly (in and with The Trinity) in Their Ways (that is, in Their Logos-order, -lifestyle, and -mission).

 

And…

 

7/To hope Eternally and unquestionably in The Trinity’s Unfailing Covenant-love.

BP 72 - Get Your Black Belt

  I tell folks all the time: "Get your black belt in 'something,' and then start exploring other arts." Every martial art (MA) has it's gaps. What are the gaps in yours? Once you get your black belt in one MA, you've graduated kindergarten. Now it's time to start exploring and filling the gaps. You do this, by enrolling in another kindergarten program... BP 32 - Self-knowledge, a meditation

It’s been said that the highest form of human knowledge is self-knowledge. I both agree with and disagree with this statement. My disagreement lies, mostly, with the stopping of the argument at the general (and exquisitely broad) category of “self-knowledge.” To begin, what is self-knowledge? Is it knowledge? Certainly. Knowledge about oneself? Most assuredly. But it’s more—MUCH MORE!!—than just knowledge about oneself. Self-knowledge is knowledge about oneself that’s truly “lived” and “experienced.” In a word, self-knowledge is “wisdom;” and it’s real (that is, based in reality) and not abstract [considered apart from concrete existence; not applied or practical; theoretical; difficult to understand; abstruse].
